As most of you know, Sephora is having it’s biannual VIB/ROUGE Sale right now. It started Friday, and I believe today is the last day for Rouge members. Sephora rarely has sales, and so I always make sure to take advantage – and THIS year, it just so happened to fall on my birthday! Which of course was my excuse to go a little nuts, ha! I mean after all – if I don’t spend a crap-ton of money on makeup for my birthday present, who will???
I was actually a little surprised at what I ended up purchasing, as I generally save my really BIG luxury item buys for this sale – however, this year I bought several little things instead. Don’t get me wrong, they were all high-end items – but instead of dropping $100 on a pricey serum or huge palette, I went for volume this time around.
As most of you also know, I am a huge Natasha Denona fan – I absolutely love her makeup, and her skills as an artist. I’m constantly watching her tutorial videos on YouTube, and trying to recreate her looks. So, this Spring, I decided to purchase all Natasha D makeup. I’ll go through each product really quickly, and give you one look that I did with some of the products I purchased; I will be doing an in depth review of each item over the next week, but it would be an insanely long post if I attempted that today. Also, I like to wear makeup products several times before doing a serious review. So, this is sort of a first impressions/haul post.
Without further ado – my Sephora Rouge Birthday Haul!
Foundation: Natasha Denona Face Glow Foundation in #20
So, if you’ve been reading this blog for any period of time, then you know how I feel about foundation – totally hate it. I hate the way it feels on my face, hate the way it makes my skin look not like skin, and it almost always ends up breaking me out due to its occlusive nature. My closest concession has been tinted treatments, like my beloved Le Metier de Beauté Peau Vierge, cushion compacts, and B.B. Creams.
That is, until now. Enter the Natasha Denona Face Glow Foundation; this stuff is a game-changer! I first saw it in Sephora a couple weeks ago, and was intrigued because the packaging looked like it would be a B.B. cream – I LOVE pump tubes for their portability and cleanliness – and when I tested it on my face, I was blown away at how beautiful it looked. I then did some research online, and decided I must have it. I’ve been wearing it all weekend, and I am in love with the weightless feel of it on my skin, the buildable light/medium coverage, and the GLOW, my little Kumquats – the beautiful, healthy, glowy finish is unlike any foundation I’ve worn before. It lets my skin look like skin, only better. I will be doing a full review with swatches and before and after pics, but for now, here’s a photo with me wearing it today (along with a full face of ND products):
I love the way this stuff looks! And, it lasts all day on my dry, dehydrated skin. I’m so glad I decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a real foundation, because this is so pretty.
I don’t know what’s up with this pic, but these all look super warm – and they’re not! Only the last one is a warm neutral – the other two skew pink neutral. The one I’m wearing in these photos is the middle lippie, for instance. But ANYWAY, I’ve been on this huge nude lipstick kick lately, and I saw a couple of ND’s nudes on her videos and knew I had to try them for myself. She has a huge selection of nudes in her matte and shiny lines, there is literally something for everyone! I did try the Mattes first, however I found them to be too drying, and a bit patchy on the lips. But the Shiny line was perfect! These are all super-opaque, and when it comes to pretty, wearable takes on the classic nude lip, Natasha is my girl. She also has excellent lip liners in deeper nude shades to prevent the whole look from being too washed out.
But Monday, you are saying, that’s pushing the envelope pretty damn hard in the whole Concealer Lips direction. Hmmm, well, perhaps it might be pretty close, but I think the beautiful undertones to these lippies do save them from venturing too far into that territory. Maybe you disagree, and please let me know in the comments, but I think this shade is really pretty, and goes perfectly with the strong, smoky cat eye I’ve got going on!
Eyeshadow: Natasha Denona 5 Shadow Palette #08
Ok, so this isn’t the best photo of the palette, but when I do my review, I will swatch it out and have a better pic ready. Anyway, the reason I simply could not resist this palette is because I honestly have nothing comparable in my collection. The middle shade is this crazy gorgeous pink-gold duo-chrome, and the two dark shades have this beautiful green tone that is incredible.
And that’s basically it for the full face of Natasha products – I’m totally in love with all of it. I really had to restrain myself from buying the super-expensive Lila Palette…I figure I’ll save that for the next sale, if I can wait that long!
Perfume: Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb🌸 Gift Set
Ok, I will admit right now that I did not expect to fall in love with, let alone like, this fragrance. But, I was watching my favourite YouTuber, Kathleen Lights, talk about her all time top 5 perfumes, and she described it as something that sounded almost Gourmand to me – my absolute favourite kind of perfume. Yep, I love smelling like something sweet and edible. I am most definitely not a straight up floral person. But I know that Kat and I have the same taste in scents (she loves patchouli too, bless her heart!). So, when I researched a little more on Fragrantica, EVERYONE was describing this as, yep, a Gourmand scent. So, I had to check it out. And…oh my Gods, people, this pretty pink juice is gorgeous!
The creamy, white chocolate scent of the orchid, the hint of rose (ok I do love me some rose), the patchouli base…good lord, it’s perfect. I will definitely be picking up a full bottle of this juice, once these run out. You get two travel size bottles in the set, so cute, plus little sizes of the shower gel and body lotion.
And so, that’s it for my Sephora Birthday Haul! I hope you enjoyed it, and had the chance to pick up some goodies as well. What did YOU purchase? Let me know in the comments so I don’t feel alone in how much money I dropped…
Stay gorgeous, guys!
XO – Monday
